James Worthy rips Lakers after blowing game to Thunder

James Worthy didn’t hold back after an embarrassing Lakers loss on Wednesday.

“I’d put them on a Greyhound and let them drive back to L.A. and think about it,” the franchise legend said after the Lakers blew a 26-point lead to lose, 123-115, to a Thunder team expected to be among the league’s worst.

Speaking on SportsNet LA’s postgame show, Worthy criticized the Lakers’ mentality, saying they didn’t respect the Thunder, and it cost them.

“I’ve seen a lot of Laker losses, this might be the worst loss I’ve seen,” he said. “… This sucked that they have this mentality and they can’t finish games if they think that teams are gonna just lay down for them. They gotta change that. This was really ugly.”

Though the Lakers were without LeBron James, the blown lead is a terrible look for a team that’s one of the favorites to win the title. Carmelo Anthony had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds, but badly missed a 3-pointer.

The loss dropped the Lakers to 2-3, with a homestand starting Friday against Cleveland.

“If they don’t change something — I know it’s early in the season and they’re gonna get it together but this was one of those games,” Worthy said. “They should’ve won this game. The disrespect that they showed for Oklahoma by not being professional and finishing the job, it’s not Lakers style. They gotta figure it out.”
